Final Walk: Central Park Bike Ride

Wow! I can't believe that I am finished with all of the walks.  They were so much fun to do.  For my final walk I really wanted to make it the best one.  So I decided that I wanted to do it on bike.
So a group of us went and rented "Barclays" bikes this morning after breakfast.  Kaylee and I led our group (me, Kaylee, Andrea, Alison, Scott, Hilary, Alexa, Taylor, and Kelsey).  We had a lot of fun!  At first we couldn't figure out how to get the bikes out from the lock.  We didn't realize that we had to lift them up.  We finally got them to work and were on our way through the parks!  We had to make a few minor detours since we couldn't ride our bikes on every part of the path.  During our walk we had to get stopped by the royal horses and the guards who were walking through the park.  We aren't sure why they were there.... but it was fun to see! It was so fun just going on bikes through Green Park, St. James Park, and Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens.  At some parts we had to go slow since there were so many people walking through.  But, it was so fun!

My favorite walks were Regents Park Walk, Westminster Walk, and Central Parks.  Regents was my favorite because I loved the park and just the area it was in.  It was in a nice neighborhood.  I loved the pond and some of the cool bridges. I plan on going back soon! Westminster was great because it had so many of the classic London sites in it.  You could see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben/Parliament, and also London Eye along the walk.  It was just a fun place to be and I loved seeing those sites!  The Central Parks walk was so fun because we did it on bike and went through a bunch of parks.  We also saw those guards on the way, which made it so cool.  I loved these walks and want to do more!

Soho to Trafalgar Square Walk

China Town

My store... not really though
cause it is all alcohol... but at
least it is my name(without
the 'h' though)

Kaylee, Andrea, Kristen and I went on the Soho to Trafalgar Square walk today after we finished at the Courtald Gallery. I led it again.  It was fun.  This area was more of a restaurant and shopping and Chinatown area. We kept wanting to stop and eat at every place as we passed each of the restaurants.  We passed the Les Miserables theater(which we are going to see tonight as a group!).  We passed a lot of little farmers markets.
Colorful Mosaic Wall!
So Andrea decided to get raspberries. They were really good and super cheap too!  There were a few cool murals and things on the walls along the way.  Leicester Square was fun and we tried to get a caricature done of us four, but the guy tried to charge us a lot, so we didn't do it.  It was a fun walk overall though!

Bloomsbury Walk

Britton and I decided to go on a walk early Sunday morning. We both helped lead throughout the walk, but I mainly led the majority of the way.  We almost made it the whole way without any detours. But, they had the usual road construction(like every other walk).  But, we managed to make it through the whole walk without getting lost.  The neighborhoods in this area seemed pretty nice and quieter than some of the otheres.  It seemed like a fun place to live in.  Since we went pretty early, I am going to have to go back to check out some of the cool things along the way.  I want to go back to the British Museum and look around and I would also like to go in the Dickens House Museum.  It was a rather chill walk.

Inns of Court

After church on Sunday, a few of us(Kristen, Macy, Sam, Lorraine, and I) decided to go for a walk.  We chose to go on the Inns of Court walk.  We had to make quite a few detours because they had lots of shops closed and were doing construction on roads... There were some cool buildings and some really cool cars too. We went down some fun little alley ways and it was a good walk.  I just wish there hadn’t been so much construction.

Bankside and Southwark Walk

We did this one in two different days.  The first one was one night(Saturday, April 30) after we went to the Tate Modern.  We really wanted to go to the Tower Bridge, so we started walking and then realized we could use one of the walks to get over there.  It was fun, except for almost everything was closed since it was late.  Even two of the tube stations were closed due to construction.  So we walked a lot more than planned.  We (Kaylee, Scott, Molly, Laura, and me) all gave a group effort at leading.  It was cool to see this area late at night because of the Tower of London, London Bridge (which had pinkish red lights on it), and the Eye, and much more.

The second time, we decided to finish it up while we were waiting to go as a group to St. Paul's to do our tour.  We went and finished up this walk (Kaylee, Scott and I).  We saw the Globe Theater.  We had this guy take our picture and he was from America, studying in Scotland for the year though.  We then finished up the walk.  We saw a lot of good restaurants that we want to check out.  We also passed Borough Market that we want to come back for when they open. It's like a farmers market and looks like it'll be so good!  We did go to a restaurant named Amano Cafe, and I got a wrap.  It was so good and they toasted the outsides.  I had chicken, with lettuce, honey mustard, cheese, tomatoes, and a variety of vegies in it.  So good! I want to go back again!

Fleet Street and St. Paul's Walk

This walk was our longest walk.  Not because it covered more area, but because we had a lot of little “pit stops.”  Scott led our group (Kaylee, Shelisa, Alison, Tara, and Hannah).  It was fun.  We saw St. Paul’s (which we later climbed to the top of with our whole class and got a tour!).  We also stopped at a fun candy store, named Olde Sweet Shop, and got some hardy candy to suck on.  I got raspberry and blackberry.  I am so going to go there before I go back and get some for my family!  They were so good!
Great way to start off our walk! This is right outside St. Paul's Cathedral.

We also went by Samuel Johnson’s house(the guy who wrote the first dictionary).  Later we went to the Bride’s Church.  The guy was nice and gave us a history of the place.  This city is so old and historic! We went downstairs in the crypts area.  It was cool to see.  I love going on these walks because we go places we normally wouldn’t have!

Lambeth and the South Bank Walk

Good Morning London!  This morning I decided that I wanted to get up before breakfast and go for a jog.  So I decided wanted to do a cool jog close to Thames River. I had to take the tube since I didn't have enough time to run over there from our place. So I hopped on and got to the beginning of the walk. This one was one of my more favorite "walks" so far.  It had so many cool views along the river!  I ran past London Eye and I think it would be so cool to ride it sometime.  I loved the views on this run! It was so fun to see London in the morning when it wasn't crowded.  It was the quietest that I have seen it Since I have been here! I took some of these random pictures along the way.  Along the way I saw St. Thomas's Hospital. There was a cool statue in front of it.  This run was so fun and easy to follow, especially since so much of it just went along the river! It was a great one!
Mom-Here is the Marriott that you wanted to stay
in. It is way cool and I ran past it on this walk.  It is right
across the bridge from Big Ben.  You'd love it!
